Azfar has over 30 years of diverse experience in public and private sector; and as an entrepreneur. He started his professional journey from United States after completing his education from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he briefly taught and also worked for various multinational companies in ICT domain before deciding to come back to Pakistan.

In Pakistan, he was the founding member and CEO of two startup technology companies; one in the software and other in the internet / telecom domain. Later, he decided to join the Civil Service of Pakistan and is now part of Pakistan Administrative Service. His public sector career spans over 20 years including field assignments and secretariat positions in Planning & Development, Finance, IT and Social Sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) & Punjab Provinces.

Azfar represents Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Pakistan as its Regional Chair. Azfar’s passion is to use his IT and Telecom experience in public sector to create an impact for all citizens of Pakistan.

Azfar holds BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA and an MBA from LUMS, Pakistan. He is also member of Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honor Society USA and Eta Kappa Nu, National EE & CS Honor Society, USA.
